You know how I do those silly little visual sketches with the Processing programming language? Well, check out what really can be done with it:

Open Source 2 is this Sunday night. I ought to be there and performing if all goes as planned.
Check Mikronesia's site for the details.
UPDATE: Cancelled! Apparently the place is under new ownership, so they have to find a new venue. Damnit.
Do we really use only 10 percent of our brains? Nope.

PD gets drop shadows and colored patch cords! Wee! (I know, it's pathetic.)

Lifting the lid on computer filth
Office workers are exposed to more germs from their phones and keyboards than toilet seats, scientists reveal. Work stations contain nearly 400 times as many microbes than lavatories, it is claimed.Eeeeeyaaawww!

It turns out that my performance at Open Source was successfully recorded after all. Two tracks, each about 9 minutes. I am happier with it listening back now than I was at the time. That always seems to be the way. I'm especially happy with the drum/click/pop freakout solo towards the end of Brechia.
Check the live page for the MP3s.
Thanks to Mike Mikronesia for putting on the event (and recording it).
UN study: Think upgrade before buying a new PC
A United Nations University study into the environmental impact of personal computers, due to be published later Monday, has found that around 1.8 tons of raw material are required to manufacture the average desktop PC and monitor and that extending a machine's operational life through re-use holds a much greater potential for energy saving that recycling.According to the study, the manufacturing of one desktop computer and 17-inch CRT (cathode ray tube) monitor requires at least 240 kilograms of fossil fuels, 22 kilograms of chemicals and 1,500 kilograms of water. In terms of weight, the total amount of materials used is about equal to that of a mid-size car.

I had a good time last night at OpenSource, a monthly laptop open-mic type event in Philadelphia. It's nice to see a little local scene cropping up. Keep it movin'.
Nintari man posted a live recording of his first round performance at the laptop battle. Blazin'.
I'm just glad he's on my team.
